Agentic commerce on Algorand
An agent can request a service, accept the price, and pay for it in one seamless flow. Algorand enables fast, low-cost settlement infrastructure well suited for agentic commerce.

This is not just a faster checkout flow. It is a new transaction model where agents can interact with services, handle payments, and continue the workflow on their own.
The agent connects to a service and asks for work to be done. The service responds with the price for access or execution.
The agent can accept the terms and complete the payment as part of the same flow, without a separate checkout step.
The endpoint returns the data, result, or service the agent paid for. The whole exchange takes seconds, with proof of payment recorded on-chain.
They’re paying for APIs, data, and tools within pre-set spending rules. Two open standards are now competing to settle those payments on-chain: x402 from Coinbase and MPP from Stripe and Tempo, while other standards like A2A and AP2 from Google handle agent communication and payment authorization, independent of the settlement layer. Together, these standards, along with contributions from leading payments and technology companies, are shaping the foundation for the next phase of agentic commerce.

Agent-driven payments are high-frequency, low-value, and need to settle within the transaction flow itself. That requires infrastructure that is fast, cost-efficient, and reliable. Algorand was designed around exactly these properties, years before agentic commerce had a name.
Transactions settle in a single block with instant finality. There is no need to wait for multiple confirmations or worry about chain reorganizations rolling them back.
Up to 10,000 TPS capacity. Zero protocol downtime since the network launched in 2019.
Currently, a fee of 0.001 ALGO per transaction with native atomic grouping. Stablecoin transfers don’t carry additional fees beyond the standard transaction fee, which makes per-call pricing work.
Algorand is advancing quantum resistance to prepare for the quantum threat. The risk may not be immediate, but Algorand has been working on post-quantum cryptography for years, and its chain history is already protected through quantum-resilient State Proofs.
Agentic commerce is unlocking new ways for people, businesses, and machines to interact and exchange value. By leveraging AI to make decisions and blockchain to settle, verify, and record transactions, these systems can operate continuously, reduce friction, and enable new economic models.
Add x402 to an API or service you already run, or build an agent-first product from scratch. Algorand gives you the settlement layer and infrastructure needed to make it work.
