Algorand developer workshops 2025 with AlgoKit

Algorand’s 2025 Algokit workshop series gave developers a clear and practical path into building on Algorand. We connected with developers from multiple regions during 14 online sessions held throughout the year. Some were discovering Algorand for the first time, while others were strengthening their foundations and updating their skills with new tools. Many developers were learning how to assemble a complete application from scratch.

The workshops covered everything from core concepts to smart contract development and testing. Our DevRel team taught and demonstrated all the capabilities of AlgoKit in both Python and TypeScript. Developers participated in hands-on experiences to increase their skills and understanding of how to build on Algorand.

This recap highlights what over 1200 developers experienced throughout the workshop series this year. It outlines the practical learning outcomes and how each workshop contributed to a solid, end-to-end understanding of the Algorand development workflow.

The workshop experience, format, and community

To accommodate developers in different time zones, DevRel offered each four-hour session several times throughout the year at various times. The workshops followed a clear and structured online format.

We wanted to include all of our community, so we offered two versions of the workshop - one in Python and one in Typescript.  Both covered the same content but adapted the coding with our available tools in each language, so developers could learn in the language that fit them best.

We focused on interactivity and practical-to-follow demos because they are the first core part of the workshop experience. Each workshop included open Q&A throughout the session, guided explanations of every concept for using Algorand, and live polls to allow attendees to double-check the key concepts in real time.

The Personal Bank demo project served as the hands-on application experience, showing developers how each piece of the development process connects, from architecture and smart contracts to logic, interaction and testing.

We know how important it is to revisit content, so we fed the session chat with key resources and links to go deeper. After the session, every participant received a recording of the entire workshop.

At the end of each workshop, developers had the chance to complete a short assessment to put their knowledge into practice. Those who finished it received a certificate of completion recognizing their effort and progress.

We were happy to serve the community and see the remarkable response to the workshops. We had over 2,700 unique registrations and more than 1,200 attendees joining from every continent around the world, particularly from the Americas and Asia. We welcomed a wide range of profiles - full-stack engineers, blockchain developers, web developers exploring this technology and even new developers who wanted to understand and learn core Algorand concepts and explore how Algokit works.

This diversity of community helped shape an engaging and collaborative environment during each workshop.

The workshop curriculum

We focused on designing a complete learning experience so that developers could code applications on Algorand immediately after attending the workshop. The content gave developers a full end-to-end understanding of building on Algorand, starting with the essentials of the protocol, introducing Algokit and Algokit Utils with a practical demo, teaching how to create and interact with smart contracts, and finishing with integration testing concepts and coding.

Our 2025 workshop curriculum included the following topics and activities:

  1. Algorand fundamentals and intro to Algokit: ASAs, transactions, fees, minimum balance, atomic transactions and Algokit.
  2. Algokit building blocks in code: Localnet, Lora, AlgorandClient and Algokit Utils transactions demo.
  3. Algorand smart contracts: App account, resource usage, storage types, inner transactions and coding the workshop project.
  4. Smart contract testing: Unit and integration testing concepts and coding.

Join the next wave of builders

The 2025 series was just the beginning of what you can build with Algorand. The Algokit 3.0 workshop series continues beyond the live sessions, giving you more ways to learn and build.

The schedule for upcoming workshops is available on the AlgoKit workshop page. Developers can also explore the on-demand playlist on our YouTube channel - Intro to Algokit 3.0 Workshop.

For deeper learning, visit the Algorand Developer Portal and connect with our Discord Channel community, where you can continue asking questions, share progress and get support from other builders and the DevRel Team.

Whether you’re just getting started or ready to build your next project, the tools and resources are already available. Our team and community are here to help you take the next step.

The next breakthrough on Algorand can come from anyone, and your idea might be the one that inspires the rest. We can't wait to see what you build next!
