December highlights

In December, Algorand maintained stable network fundamentals, while several key metrics showed growth momentum across the ecosystem.

Key highlights:

  • The network expanded, with wallets up 0.8% reaching 48.90 million, and transactions climbing 1.3%, pushing past 3.40 billion in total.
  • New assets created surged 18.0% reaching 35,708 vs. 30,265 in November.
  • Stablecoin market cap also grew 18.5%, up from $50.05 million to $59.34 million, reflecting deeper liquidity and confidence in Algorand-based assets.
  • DeFi and liquidity: While USD-denominated Total Value Locked (TVL) fell 11.0% to approximately $103 million amid broader market weakness, ALGO-denominated TVL rose 7.9%, highlighting relative on-chain liquidity resilience.

Decentralization and security update

In 2025, Algorand achieved material progress in decentralization and network security. Total ALGO staked increased by 56.8% from 1.26 billion to 1.98 billion. Community share rose from 36.5% to 80.2% while the Foundation’s share declined from 63.5% to just 19.8%. Validator (online accounts) participation nearly doubled, increasing from 897 to 1,726, a 92.4% increase.

Algoland's final month

As expected, December was the lowest month in terms of overall engagement in Algoland as the campaign wound down and all challenges officially ended on December 21.

The standout moment was the week of December 1, when we hit a new peak thanks to the Pera Spin quest and Algorand memecoin distribution, driving strong interest back into Algoland with more than 1000 people participating in the weekly challenge.

Across December, Algoland posts on the Foundation X account averaged 22,000 views each, with major launch and giveaway posts landing in the 35,000 to 45,000 view range, for an estimated 400,000 to 500,000 total views.

Engagement quality improved with engagement rates rising by 6% even as volume tapered. On the web side, around 250,000 new users visited Algorand pages during December, confirming that Algoland continued to bring fresh eyes into the ecosystem right up to the end of the campaign.
