February highlights

In February, Algorand continued to demonstrate resilience and steady network development, with some ecosystem metrics reflecting sustained engagement despite challenging broader market conditions.
Network expansion remained steady, with total wallets increasing 0.6% to 49.88 million, while total transactions grew 0.9%, surpassing 3.47 billion cumulative transactions.

While TVL measured in USD decreased 18.8% to USD 77.23 million, largely due to price movements, TVL measured in ALGO increased 4.9% to 892.70 million ALGO, up from 850.93 million ALGO in January, highlighting continued confidence and capital commitment within the Algorand ecosystem.

Stablecoin market cap eased 3.4% to USD 50.82 million, compared with USD 52.62 million in January.

Decentralization and security update

In February 2026, Algorand continued progress on decentralization and network security, with total ALGO staked surpassing 2.02 billion. The community now accounts for 80.6% of the stake, while the Foundation’s share declined further to 19.4%.

Algorand Tokenomics

At the end of February, ALGO’s circulating supply reached 8.88 billion, representing 88.8% of the total maximum supply. This marks a 0.2% increase from January.

Staking rewards and network fees

In February, Algorand validators earned 6.27 million ALGO in staking rewards. The chart below illustrates the monthly evolution of reward distribution alongside fee generation.

From the Foundation

• AF CEO Staci Warden’s fireside chat at CfC St. Moritz unpacked Algorand’s move back to the U.S. and strategic priorities for 2026 and beyond, including regulatory clarity, tokenization, and bridging traditional markets on-chain.

• In S3:E11 of the Verifiably Random podcast, CSMO Marc Vanlerberghe talked with Tasos Bitsios,  Algorand Core Engineering Lead, to explain the engineering behind the Algoland campaign, specifically, what it takes to execute a fully on-chain campaign at scale on Algorand.

• In S3:E12 of Verifiably Random, Matt Keller, AF Head of Impact, and Nigel Pont, Strategic Advisor for Humanitarian Affairs, dove into how partners like HesabPay are improving humanitarian aid delivery using Algorand, from Afghanistan to Syria and beyond.

• CSMO Marc Vanlerberghe delivered a presentation on agentic commerce at ETHDenver. Team members also participated in Multichain Day at the event.

• AF Board Chair Bill Barhydt spoke at Bitcoin Investor Week about the convergence of AI and crypto and the opportunity for developers to build on powerful L1 infrastructure. Watch the extended video here.

• AF hosted the “Payment Required goes Berlin” virtual x402 workshop and community activation together with 42 Berlin on Feb 18.

• At ETHDenver Multichain Day, AF Head of Builder Programs, Camilo Milano, joined Chase Merlin, Head of Product at Brale, to discuss what the Brale integration unlocks for builders and enterprises.

• The ecosystem team hosted a Community Call on X to update community members on Algorand and ecosystem developments.

Governance

xGov v3.0.0 went live on mainnet, and proposal submissions were unlocked. New features included absenteeism penalties, boycott voting, and committee staleness protection.

Algorand in the news

• In an interview with CryptoCoin News (CCN), Matt Keller, AF Head of Impact, and Nigel Pont, Strategic Advisor for Humanitarian Affairs, explained how stablecoins on Algorand help deliver cash aid in Afghanistan and Syria, while keeping sensitive data off-chain.

• The Cryptonomist interviewed Algorand CSMO Marc Vanlerberghe to discuss Algorand’s move to the United States and plans for the future.

• Leading cryptographer Chris Peikert, who has led Algorand's post-quantum security implementations, discussed Algorand's readiness in a post-quantum world on the Unchained podcast.

• AF CEO Staci Warden sat down with Crypto India Magazine to share what blockchains need for greater adoption and how Algorand is ready for the real world.

• Coinbureau posted a video mentioning Algorand and x402.

While the broader crypto landscape is seeing a period of consolidation and slowed retail activity, we are seeing a strategic focus narrowing on sectors that matter most for long-term adoption. • Haystack added new features for login and launch.

• GoPlausible and Algorand were added to the official Coinbase x402 ecosystem.

• The Swypt payment app is now live on Algorand, helping merchants settle in USDC.

• Algorand partner Quantoz announced a partnership with Visa that will enable cards issued on Algorand to leverage Algorand's instant finality to settle transactions on-chain in real-time.

• Pera Wallet posted a February recap.

• Pera Wallet released iOS Pera Wallet update v6.16.0. 

Prediction markets

• The Foundation published Super Bowl and Alpha Arcade: Inside the fast-growing prediction market, a blog post to help amplify Alpha Arcade’s Super Bowl campaign.

• Alpha Arcade announced 100,000 USDC in LP rewards over the next year. 

Dev spotlight, tools, and infrastructure

• x402 is now fully supported on Algorand to enable build pay-per-API, micropayments, M2M, and agentic commerce.

• DevRel Engineer Gabriel Kuettel released Vibekit, a purpose-built agentic dev stack for Vibe coding on Algorand, Agent Skills to give LLMs the context they need to write correct smart contract code and speed up workflow on Algorand, and contributed a blog post on security for AI-assisted blockchain development.

• Astha Yadav from the DevRel team released a step-by-step guide to help builders implement Wormhole Native Token Transfers (NTT) on Algorand and enable bidirectional cross-chain token transfers.

• Genfinity highlighted three Algorand Startup Challenge winners.
