CoinDesk reported that the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), tasked with eliminating poverty in over 170 countries, will upskill its 22,000 staff in blockchain technology to help achieve sustainable development goals. Partnering with the Algorand Foundation, the UNDP will launch a blockchain academy in 2024, educating staff on distributed ledger technology and its applications in financial inclusion, supply chain transparency, real-world asset tokenization, and digital identity. At the Algorand Impact Summit, UNDP's Robert Pasicko highlighted the program's aim to empower and inspire UN practitioners globally. The curriculum will include lectures, workshops, and hands-on assignments to equip the team with blockchain tools to address global challenges. Algorand Foundation’s Doro Unger-Lee emphasized the importance of education in delivering actionable blockchain use cases for sustainable development.
