CoinDesk: Turing Award Winner's Blockchain Opens Test Network to Public

CoinDesk reported that the Algorand blockchain platform, co-founded by MIT professor and Turing Award winner Silvio Micali, has opened its test network to the public. This proof-of-stake based blockchain aims to create a decentralized system with scalability and security while preventing "forking." The public release follows a private test period with several hundred users. Algorand, which raised $66 million from venture capital firms including Union Square Ventures and Pillar, seeks wider user engagement to provide feedback on the TestNet protocol.
